All about my navel piercing :-)
I FINALLY GOT MY NAVEL PIERCED!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm seriously very happy I can't contain my excitement)
So yes, this whole post would be on my experience of getting a navel piercing since many girls want to get it & don't know if they should & stuff. (I honestly think you should because it's hot HAHA)
Pre-piercing
Before I did the actual piercing, I actually googled 'navel piercing' a lot & about how people felt after they pierced, the aftercare, the side effects (BASICALLY EVERYTHING) I felt that navel piercing was a whole new level from ear piercings because personally, I have 5 piercings on my ears, 3 on my left, 2 on my right. I've got helix & tragus on my left and right ear respectively. So... navel piercing was new to me. I came across this forum where people commented on what they felt after they pierced & I sort of regret it. I mean it was good information but there are people on the forum that painted a really bad experience, which brings me to my next point.
Things you need to know before you decide on getting a navel piercing:
• You can't scrimp & save on navel piercing like how you would on your ears ( cause' my helix and tragus only cost 3$ each! Did it @ Beadstreet cineleisure). This is because if someone inexperienced helps you pierce, they might pierce it too thinly & the chances of continuous bleeding & infection is extremely high.
• The duration of the wound FULLY recovering is approx 3-6 months. So if you're doing swimming as a sport/playing extreme sports, it's best not to take it up. That's because the navel piercing needs to fully heal, and CANNOT be tugged at. Therefore, only pierce it when you have minimum 4-5 months to spare. Recovering time varies depending on individual.
• Ask your friends who have a navel piercing how was it :-) For me, the navel piercing wasn't pain @ all cause' I think my pain tolerance is really high. Like it just felt like a huge ant bite. Something that's particularly important is that ask your friends where they did theirs & their experience. Later in the post I'll put down the address of where I did mine!
• Be aware of your own skin condition. If you've sensitive skin etc, choose studs that are titanium to prevent irritation. (obviously you'll have to pay more)
• There might be a scar even if you take the piercing out after 1-2 years. That's a sacrifice you would have to make. (or just leave it there forever and never take it out LOL) Personally, I'm okay with the scarring because honestly, if I do get pregnant in the future, I would want to do C section so there would still be scars from the surgery so... might as well yknw? HAHA.
My experience of piercing
So I went to Far East Plaza to get my navel piercing done. This is where I got mine! It's basically @ Far East Plaza, #04-11. Here is some additional information:
Got the first picture off google and the second, off their website.
It was recommended by a friend who got hers done at the same place so yes it's extremely reliable. I went there at approx 12PM, and told them I wanted a navel piercing. It took only about 15minutes! So the price of a navel piercing would be approximately 50$+++ (depending on the stud you purchase & the aftercare products) Mine was 61$ because I got the cheaper stud and purchased NaCl solution to clean my wound for the first week or so.
Here's a picture of what they gave me:
When I was in the small room, I was made to lie down and Nicol, (the person who attended to me) proceeded to sterilize (is it?) my belly button and used a marker to mark the position to pierce. I was then told to check in the mirror if I was okay with where the piercing would be at. Once everything is set, they would lie you down and yes the process of terror begins HAHA. They would use a clasp to clasp your meat together to facilitate the piercing of your flesh. Nicol told me to check that the needle is a new needle. (this step is extremely important to prevent sharing of needles etc.) So if wherever you're piercing @ does not show you a new needle, do ask them. Exactly why I 100% actually no, 200% recommend Exotic Tattoos and Piercings! They're ethical :') So basically Nicol told me that she would count from 1 to 3 and at the count of 3, I need to take a deep breath in. (that's when she pierced into my flesh) However, it was just like a huge ant sting!!! But do note my pain tolerance is really high HAHA.
AND IT WAS FINALLY DONE. So they would then tell you to step out and explain all the aftercare steps. They even have a slip of paper to tell you the precise steps to take while cleansing your wound to prevent infections etc.
Aftercare
• It is highly recommended (from what I read online) to purchase their NaCl solution to clean your wound after you bathe. Nicol also informed me that purchasing it to cleanse would be better (there was absolutely no hard selling @ all). Therefore I got it and including everything, it was 61$. I feel that this money is well spent because not only am I paying for the stud/piercing, I'm also paying for their experience.
THEREFORE IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO GO TO SOMEWHERE WHERE THEIR PEOPLE ARE VERY EXPERIENCED.
• DO NOT play with the stud. Honestly that's really dumb. But anyway it'll hurt because today, when I was bathing I accidentally tugged @ it & it was horribly painful. So please. DO NOT.
• As much as you want to show your navel piercing off by wearing crop tops etc, it's better not to within the first week of the piercing because technically you're exposing your piercing to viruses/bacteria in the air. So just wear loose fitting clothes that covers your navel :-)
• AVOID SEAFOOD. I'm not sure if you need to avoid diary products, I don't think so since I ate lots of diary ever since piercing but yep. Seafood might lead to an infection too! So do watch out :-)
On a side note, here's another story I read online about the horror of saving $ for navel piercings. She got her navel pierced at 15$ (which is like 1/4 the price of mine) However, after that, her wound started bleeding like crazy and she had to get a surgery done, because the person pierced too little of her flesh. Ouch right?!?! So yes I honestly think it's still better to pierce it somewhere where it's reknown.
Basically, I guess that's about it :-) Yep that's all about my experience of getting a navel piercing & NO RAGRETS BABY. I totally don't regret it one bit :') Have been wanting to get it for so long but lacked the financial resources to do so. So I finally had the $ HA HA HA. Here's a picture of my piercing :-)
Hopefully this post is informational to whoever who wants to do a Navel piercing! :-)
Till the next time,
xoxo
